About us

We set up how you take cards, and then we stay on it.

Vigilant Payments is an independent payments company. We work with restaurants, shops and service businesses: reading what they pay now, putting in the system that fits, and answering the phone afterwards. Most of our work starts with somebody sending us a statement they do not fully understand.

Where this started

Two companies, twelve years, the same job.

  1. 2013
    BeightsTech

Started because homes and small businesses around here had nobody to call about technology in general. Not a network company, not a computer shop, not a camera installer: one person who could take all of it. That work is still going.

  2. 2020
    Vigilant Payments

The year the world was either indoors or standing six feet apart, and every business had to rethink how it got paid. Places that had never needed online ordering needed it by Friday. Curbside, QR codes on the table, a card reader nobody had to touch: most of it was bought in a hurry, because there was no other way to trade.

A lot of what was sold that year is still on the statement. Some of it earns its keep. Some of it was priced for an emergency that has long since passed, and nobody has looked at it since.

We stayed independent so we could work with a wider range of businesses and spend more time with each one. Tied to a single manufacturer, the day goes on fitting people to the one thing you are allowed to sell.

Both names are the same company: Beights LLC, trading as BeightsTech for the technology work and Vigilant Payments for the payments side. The aim is to be the first call, and where we can the only one, for the technology a business runs on: getting a customer in the door, taking the payment, and giving them a reason to come back.

That is still the job: read what is there, change what needs changing, and be easy to reach afterwards.

What we do

Three things, in this order.

01 Read the statement first

Send us last month. We work out what you actually pay, which is every fee divided by what you ran on cards. Nobody here quotes a rate before reading it.

02 Set the system up

Card processing and the POS that sits on top of it: terminals, handhelds, kitchen screens, online ordering. Installed and configured for how the place actually runs.

03 Stay on it after the install

We keep your renewal date and your rate on file, so a price change does not slip past you. When a terminal dies at 7pm, you call someone who has installed one before.

How we work

The part that matters is what we will not do.

We are independent

We are not one manufacturer's sales office, which is the whole reason we can take a wider range of businesses. Our library covers the systems worth knowing about, including the ones we would not put in.

Compare the systems
We will tell you to stay put

Switching has a cost, and sometimes the deal you have is the better one. If that is what your statement says, that is what we will tell you.

When not to switch
We write down what we find

The fees, the contract terms, the rule changes. It is all on the site, dated and sourced, so you can check us instead of taking our word for it.

Read the guides

Where we are

Southwest Florida, and wherever our clients opened next.

The main line is (239) 450-2639. There is a second line for Michigan, because clients there asked for one. Installs are done in person where we can get to you, and remotely where we cannot.

Straight with you

We are a young company, and some of this is still being built.

The statement review, the platform library and the guides are working today. The advisor tooling and the partner training are not finished, and we would rather say that here than let you find out later. If something on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

If you sell payments, or you build software merchants use, there is a partner side to this too.

Send us last month's statement.

The review is free, and you will get a straight answer about what you are paying, whether or not you move anything.

Vigilant Payments and BeightsTech are trading names of Beights LLC.
