Careers
We're building the team.
There are no formal openings posted right now, and we are not going to invent some to look larger than we are. What we do have is work that needs doing and room for people who are good at it.
Two different things
Employment and independent agent work are not the same.
They have different agreements, different tax treatment and different expectations. We keep them separate on the page because they are separate in law.
A role, on payroll, with the obligations that go both ways. Nothing is posted at the moment — but if you can see where you would add value, that is a better starting point than a job spec anyway.

- Engineering
- Customer success
- Content and research
You do not have to wait for a job opening to start building with Vigilant. The independent agent route is a 1099 contractor relationship with its own agreement, its own training and its own economics.
It suits people who want a book that is theirs rather than a salary that is not.
See the agent path →Independent agent opportunities are not employment. They are 1099 contractor relationships with their own agreement, and we keep the two paths separate on purpose.
Before you write
What we are actually trying to build.
Stated as things you could check rather than words on a wall. If any of these turn out not to be true, that is a fair thing to hold us to.
- Merchants get the honest answer, including when it costs us the sale. The advisor can conclude KEEP, and does. We track how often — a mix that is always commercial is treated as a defect, not a good quarter.
- Agents know how the money works before they sign. Compensation is disclosed in writing up front. We do not publish numbers we have not agreed with you.
- Support gets systems that make the job possible. Recurring revenue exists to fund ongoing service. If support is underfunded, the model has failed, not the team.
- We say what is built and what is not. Half this site is marked "being built" because it is. Overstating readiness is how you lose the people you most want.
- Learning is part of the job, not an evening activity. Training, practice and coaching are being built into how performance is judged — alongside revenue, not underneath it.
